A love affair with Apple...?
WOW is all I can say. What’s a week it’s been
for Cybergirl. Yes – she started referring to herself in the third person, that’s
where it got to. For starters she decided it would be a really great idea to sort out all her apps.
This is an obsession much akin to tidying one’s desk before one can sit down to
work. Where did the thought come from? From that little dark OCD cave where
procrastination sits like a beady-eyed saboteur, just waiting to halt all
productive action.
In the process of deleting said apps,
Cybergirl forgot all about the highly delicate recordings contained within
those natty little nuggets of software. Yes IRecorder, check, yes Office Pro –
check, all these programs save the data within the apps.
Let the following interchange serve as a warning ladies and
gentlemen...
APPLE (in a high squeaky voice): Are you sure
you would like to delete 72 applications; these will be permanently removed
from your device.
CYBERGIRL (not paying attention): Yes.
THE COLLECTIVE CONSCIOUSNESS:
Noooooooooo!
But (praise the Lord) there is a caveat. Yes,
THANK GOD for The Cloud.
That never-ending manna of backup heaven in
the sky….
Ahhhhh – weep tears of joy yes, there it was
– all the data backed up, not once, not twice, but four times, deep in
slumber, waiting to be revived, reawakened, just pumped right back into her softly sleeping IPad. Every single app, every single file, restored – within
three to four minutes.
If you’ve lost all your data on an IPad, just
follow these steps:
- · Hit: Settings – General – Reset
- · Erase all content and settings
- · Go through the process of set up and “Restore from ICloud backup”
- · Enter Apple ID
- · Follow the instructions to restore from your latest backup

On another note (reverting to the first person) I was deeply saddened to
read about the death of French model Isabelle Caro last week at the tender age
of 28. The self proclaimed ‘face of anorexia’ caused more than a stir in the
fashion world when she allowed her image to be projected around Milan at the
start of fashion week. The images were banned – no huge surprise there. So
why is this of interest to Cybergirl?
Because Caro was a well documented user
of thinspiration boards on sites such as Pinterest. Hmmm – the dark side of the
web? Or evidence of an industry so
sick that not one of Caro’s modelling agencies ever commented on her emaciated
frame. Pinterest has now banned these boards, but of course they pop up on
other sites with alarming ease.
Just as the web empowers so can it destroy; use it with care ladies and gentlemen.
This is Cybergirl; your intrepid web explorer signing off...
